Gift Exchange
In exchange for an olive branch, we asked participants to offer us their spoken or written reflections on one of the following questions, when considering the olive trees in Palestine:
• Do trees have nationality?
(How does identity impact survival?)
• Do trees have “standing” (legal rights)?
(What happens when their rights are violated, what recourse do they have?)
• Why are these olive trees different from all other trees?
(What happens through the erasure of ecological and social sustainability?)
• What is your responsibility to the trees?
